Sustainability has never been more important or more critical than it is now. No longer can we, as a society, continue to use materials that are not renewable or sustainable. Another way SiC is changing the game is through sustainable measures and practices. Since the base raw material used to make SiC is sand, the amount of plastic used in a treatment system is reduced significantly. The Austin manufacturing plant will reduce the carbon footprint of SiC as it doesn’t have to be shipped overseas. Renewable and sustainable energy will be used to power the SiC manufacturing plant. Many of the harmful solvents, and subsequent VOCs emitted, used to manufacture polymeric membranes are eliminated with SiC.
